Olivia’s Journey

Please join Olivia on her journey to walk with PFFD
Olivia was born on the 22nd May 2008 with a condition called PFFD, Proximal Focal Femoral Deficiency. The condition caused Olivia’s right leg to be significantly shorter than her left leg. Together with the short leg, Olivia’s right hip and knee is underdeveloped and would require major surgery. Her surgeon in Johannesburg, together with the assistance of her surgeon in the USA, will be performing major surgery on the 7th April 2011which will enable her to have normal function in her hip and knee. She will be in a full plaster cast for 8 weeks after her surgery.
The discrepancy between Olivia’s two legs will measure up to 20cm at approximately 15 years of age. The first leg lengthening surgery is scheduled for 2012 and again in 2014 and 2016. We hope to raise R50 000 in order to cover all costs for her surgery as well as a new prosthetic shoe for her after her surgery. Our goal is simply to help Olivia to run and walk just like any other little child can.
